We've had a potty at home for a while, talk regularly about being a big girl and try the toilet and potty here and there

For a couple of night now, just before going in the bath, I've put DD on the toilet and asked her if she can do a wee.

Three nights in a row she's let a little dribble out, and then after some encouragement (can you do a bigger wee) and cheering she let's her bladder empty. Is this showing she has some element of bladder control now?

This evening after putting her to bed she called me back in and she had taken off her nappy and was putting a pair of big girl pants on instead, I asked why and she said I don't want to wear that nappy now it's yucky I've done a wee in it.

I need to take the bull by the horns here and go for it don't I? Any tips on how to start?

Well don't start at night time 😬 most kids dry in the day aren't dry at night for some time after but I'd say start in the day for sure 😁

@WhatMe123 🤣🤣 I did say to her sorry honey but you have to wear a nappy to sleep in

I’ve just had similar with my DS (he turned 3 last month). A few days ago he took his nappy off and has been using the potty since. I wasn’t planning on starting training until later on in the year, I’ve been dreading it as the previous attempts have been a fail.

He mostly goes on his own, every 15 mins or so (he gets very excited by it). Sometimes I have to ask if he needs to go and then he will.

Let your DD go nappy free during the day and encourage her to use the potty. It does sound like she’s ready so you might not have to do much encouraging. There will be accidents, but that’s normal.

Good luck! I hope it goes well! Don’t feel disheartened if she wants to go back to using a nappy. Potty training is so much easier when they’re ready for it and want to do it.

@daisydreamies thank you! I've just followed her lead this week and I've been amazed by her! She's been nappy free all day today with no accidents, she even asked to do a no.2 on the potty

I know this is early days but she's asked to do a wee every time she needs to go. I'm super pleased we were brave and went for it
