Potty trained 2 year old having accidents

Hello, hoping for some advice. My 2 year old has been potty trained since July 2024 just after his brother was born. He picked up on it very quickly. Apart from the first week or so, he's never had any accidents. He still uses a pull up at night even though for the last month or more they're always dry. I have no idea why I'm still using them (lol) but just been avoiding bedtime accident. The last 4 days he has suddenly starting wetting his pants. Throughout the day, he still says I need a wee or poo and sometimes I'll remind him for a wee if I see him shaking around but he's been having at least one accident a day which has come as a huge surprise! He had an accident in nursery today - and then at dinner time not long after he had done a wee in the potty - he just said I'm doing a wee and peed all over the dining chair. I tried to remain calm and not show any frustration - I've tried positive reinforcement but am a little concerned. Any advice welcome. Thank you! Xx

When you say 2, is he just two or nearly 3?

it’s likely a phase either way, and nothing you can do except for consistency, asking if the need the loo every half hour etc.

ime this happens quite a lot when they train early. There’s quite a lot of regression and relearning, but it all seems to stick properly somewhere between 3 and 3.5, regardless of when they started. Later for boys.

@Whycanineverthinkofone thank you so much for replying! He's 33 months to be exact! 3 in June.

My little girl potty trained at exactly 2 in December and a few weeks ago she had a few days of lots of accidents. I spoke to her key worker at nursery who said it's very very common, just reinforce the training. And sure enough after a few days she was back to saying when she needed the toilet. Good luck!

@rickandmorts thank you so much! This is reassuring! We will definitely start with the reinforcement again tomorrow and fingers crossed it helps 🙏🏻❤️
