My son has been showing signs of saying “wee wee” or “poo poo” since he was 15 months old and at times put him on toilet and been successful. Started potty training 2 days ago and having success but not sure if using best method. We have been taking him every 30 mins to toilet and sometimes successful. Only 1 accident this morning during breakfast.

I have read Oh crap book which states not to take regularly and learn signs but decided with husband to try taking regularly. Due to some upset from my son should I try and just let him tell us.

I am on annual leave this week with him so wanting to make it the best experience for him. Back to nursery next week.

We did the Oh Crap method and my 20 month got it within three days and my 16 month old was done in a day - she did her first poo on the potty when I wasn't even in the room. My top tip is being able to reach your toddler and the potty at the same time. This means following them around the room playing whatever game they want to, but the potty within reach too. Otherwise you can't get those crucial first wees finishing on the potty as there just isn't time.
