Fully dry but not telling me when she needs a poo

My DD is almost 2.5, been potty training since September and has no problem with wee’s using the toilet. However I just cannot crack number 2s! I have tried bribing with chocolate, huge amounts of praise when we catch one in the potty but DD is still not telling me when she needs to go and just gets angry when I ask her to sit on the potty (when I can tell she needs to go). I think she is holding it until she can’t hold it any longer and she does it in her pants - she will then just look at me with a panicked look and say ‘oh no, poo poo’ and by that point it’s too late, she then gets upset and says ‘I don’t like poo poo’s.’

her communication is excellent for her age so I know she understands, although when I try to explain to her that poo’s go on the potty she just doesn’t engage and changes the subject. I am also 35 weeks pregnant and really hoped to have this sorted before new baby. Does anyone have any advice??

It sounds like she isn’t ready. Put her in pull ups to keep wees easier. Getting cross over poo accidents can risk making them hold. If they end up constipated that can be a nightmare to overcome in itself.
She will get there. But maybe not by the time you deliver. Might be better to wait, have the baby, regroup in a few months and try again.

Sometimes it’s not easy doing a poo on a potty on ground floor level, have you tried sitting her on the toilet with a ring seat. My first DS really struggled with this as well, he had to have a nappy on and went behind the sofa, otherwise you could tell he needed to go, but just wouldn’t. One day, just him and me at home, we spent an hour in the bathroom with snacks, drinks, books etc and I said we would go and buy any toy he wanted (yes, I bribed him), until he went and did a poo and I made a great fuss of him and how good he did and that it wasn’t as bad as he thought.

Try reading her ‘Poo Goes to Pooland’ should be available online. Worked like magic for mine.

We have been potty training my 2.5year now since late December and he’s cracked wee’s amazingly takes himself doesn’t need me to remind him etc, poos are destroying my soul. He went one week and kept telling me when he needed to go and successfully was pooing on the potty numerous times a day for a week. Then all of a sudden the week after he’s gone back to pooing himself but he won’t finish the poo in his pants or potty so I’m going through 5-6 poo pants a day and I really am exhausted by it which isn’t a problem we have plenty but I just don’t know why this has happened I genuinely am struggling to understand. He knows when he needs to poo otherwise he wouldn’t have been telling me the week before. Please any advice tips tricks anything reaching desperate now ☹️ I keep seeing things that says it can take on average 6 months to potty train and boys tend to take longer but I’m struggling 💩

Thanks all for your suggestions. Some days are better than others and I manage to catch her and get her on the toilet/potty bit it is so hard to try and get her to stay on the toilet when I know she needs to go!

I’m reluctant to put her in pull ups as she just goes back to wee-ing in them (she does this when I put her night time nappy on).
I suppose I will just have to keep persevering with positive reinforcements when she does use the toilet but it is very frustrating when it’s clear she needs to go but she just won’t tell me! As I said, we have no issues with wee’s at all.

Is there any pattern? Mine never pood in a nappy outside from about a year old, so I just let her wander around the house with no pants on and whipped her on the potty when I saw her poo face.

I rewarded any minor success, even if it was a puddle on the floor and a dribble in the potty that I managed to get under her 😅
