DS keeps using the potty when he doesn't need to

DS (3 in 2 months) has decided he wants to use the potty. Which is great as I know he's ready.

However, he keeps squeezing out the smallest of wees just for the sake of it, and I'm having to run up and down the stairs each time. We only have a loo upstairs and I don't fancy chucking wee out the back door in this weather 😱

Please say the novelty of it wears off quickly or if there are any ways to get him to just use it when he needs to.

I am glad he's not weeing on the floor, but I did not consider the other end of the spectrum where he'd just wee constantly 😭

It's great he's so keen! Just wipe it out with kitchen roll if it's only a dribble.

Just leave it there!?

He's having fun with this new experience. I bet when he first started doing it he was suitably startled by the ecstatic response - worth another go!

My little afterthought was potty trained by her much older sisters and they devised a reward system that involved one jelly tot for a wee and two for a poo. The canny little monkey worked out that poo could be produced in separate instalments so that you could accumulate more rewards! That's my girl!!
