My 4 year keeps having accidents

Hi all, I'm hoping someone would be able to give me some advice. My four year old daughter has just started primary school. She was toilet trained prior to starting though she was late to come out of nappies due to a number of problems involving constipation.

However, this was sorted though she still will hold her poo in for several days before she starts having little accidents and it takes a lot to get her on the toilet to poo.

Despite this, she has never had a problem going for a wee but for the last few weeks she has been having multiple wee accidents a day. We continuously have to ask her throughout the day if she needs a wee and she'll say no but then have an accident not longer after.

I'm also worried she is trying to hold in her wee at school. She says she goes but always has wet pants when she comes home and then has to rush to the toilet.

I just have no idea what to do. With her being at school I can't be there to ask her when she needs a wee or encourage her to go. And I didn't need to do this before, so I'm confused as to why it's suddenly gone backwards. It's so frustrating and I'm trying to be patient but I just don't know what to do!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s probably the constipation putting pressure on her bladder so she doesn’t get any warning. It’s very common for constipation to get worse when starting school.

Have you taken her to the doctor to check for a uti?
