Potty training while out and about

Hiya,
My son is turning 3 this month and this week he has done really well wearing pants during the day at home. There was probably only one accident in the whole week whilst at home.
He has one of those potty training toilet seats that have steps and handles and clip on to the toilet. He has got on really well with this and calls it his 'big boy toilet'

However, I just can't get him to use a normal toilet when out and about. I'm still having to put a pull up on him when going out because he seems a bit distressed at using the toilet without his seat on it.

So i guess my question is what is the best way you managed to toilet train outside the house? Any tips appreciated - he starts nursery just after his 3rd birthday and i really wanted him to be potty trained before starting.

Thanks!

You can buy portable seats for out and about on Amazon. They just fold up into a little bag. He's probably scared he will fall into the toilet without the extra support

Just commenting again incase anyone sees this and has any advice. My son is almost 100% there wjth potty training, he's even in pants at bed time and completely dry but he just will not use a public toilet! He very obviously needed a wee whilst out shopping today and when taken to the toilet he was just visibly scared. I even bought the smaller toilet seat that clips on like i was recommended above but he still refused. He ended up holding his wee the whole time and used the potty when we got to the car! (had it in the car just in case)
I just feel really bad that he held it in even tho i took him to multiple toilets and asked him multiple times, he just will not use a public toilet. I'm wondering if this is something he will grow out of, or maybe he would be different with his dad in the men's toilet?

Have you tried him with a stand up wee?
less daunting than sitting on a big toilet.

we had a fold up toilet seat shaped like a frog- told him frog wants his wee and he took to it fine- use it at home a bit too so he’s used to it.
