Potty training advice- training pants

Hi All,

So my DD is 2 years old and we have just started potty training.

At home, I let her run around with just a top on and no bottoms and in 3 days have only had 2 accidents (on day 1). So she's really taken to the potty and used to going on there to do her wees.

I have now introduced training pants, to get her used to having to take off pants for a wee rather than just sitting and going, as I thought this is good to teach her now, so that she can wear them out and about and knows to take them off for the toilet.

But every-time she wears them, she goes to the toilet in her pants and then runs to the potty after (realising she has wet herself).

Any advice on how to get her used to the training pants? I explain constantly that they are pants (like mine) and not nappies etc. and still asking her if she needs a wee etc. but like I said, she does her wees in the pants- which I think is because she is getting it confused with her nappy!

Hiya, I can't speak from experience as I'm about to start training my 2yo, but a lot of the stuff I read said skip pants for now and just put on trousers. They are roomy enough that it's doesn't feel like a nappy, and it's just one layer of clothing to get down rather than two (trousers and pants). Once they've mastered just trousers, then you can move onto pants.

Sure someone else will be along who's actually been there and done it but just thought I'd share what I've read, good luck!
