Potty training with constipation

Been trying to potty train just turned 3 year old little girl. It’s not going well. After 2.5 weeks she’s still not recognising the need to pee and will happily pee in her knickers wherever she’s standing/sitting.

She’s always had very firm poo and recently has been constipated. We give her prune pouches, pears etc but it hasn’t helped. I’ve been reading that constipation can affect potty training and to not start until that’s sorted (but we’ve already started now!).

Any success stories from those with constipated kids and potty training? What helped? I am booking a GP appointment to discuss too.

Yes very helpful! We’ve been keeping a poo diary this week so hoping that’ll help at the GP. Started giving Califig tonight. Just really hoping this is the cause of why potty training isn’t working as expected. Surely if she’s constipated then she can’t identify if she needs a wee.

Do I go back to nappies whilst we sort this out or keep going with knickers? So much washing!!!!
