Was looking for some advice. Ds1 is 3 next month and has a slight speech delay. I’ve been trying to potty train him since 2. I’m getting a lot of pressure off X to have him potty trained before nursery in September. Other family members have made comments of him not being potty trained yet.
Ive tried leaving him with underpants at home aswell as nothing at all but he will just wee/poo. He never tells me or shows signs when he needs to go.
Ive tried sticker charts/bribery/putting him on the potty /toilet every 20 minutes (I have the steps and toddler toilet seat on the toilet) but he will cry and shout ‘scared’ as soon as I put him on and get off straight away.
Im starting to feel like a failure because all of his friends his age are potty trained and speak more than he does (he is bilingual and speaks XH language too as xh refuses to speak to ds1 in English which I think may be a contributing factor). He just doesn’t sound show any signs of readiness. Xh is from a culture where they potty train from 1, so thinks it’s terrible ds1 is still in nappies.
