Hi, my daughter is 2 and 8 months old, I’ve been trying to ‘start’ potty training for a little while now but I’m unsure how to go further. I keep her nappy off when we’re at home as she started to grab a nappy when she needed to go but I’m a bit worried she could be holding it in when her nappy’s off, I’ve looked online to see if this a thing but I haven’t seen anyone else mention this. She has a speech delay but when she lets me know she needs a nappy I’ll give her the potty but she throws it away or says no. So I put a nappy on but didn’t know if this was encouraging nappy use? I also have a little toilet in the toilet and she goes in and flushes it but I’m not sure how to get to the next step? I’m feeling a bit of pressure as I feel like I don’t have a clue and sometimes you see people have said they can do it in a few days? But others say it can take a while? My health visitor just gave me a website to look at but I didn’t find much there tbh. Any tips will be appreciated ☺️

Sit her on the potty when you think she wants to go, and read a book together.

Thank you! I might try that!

Make sure she's happy on the toilet, supportive seat and step. Reading and playing games is good.. make if fun! Use lots of stickers for every step of the process bot just when he's had a wee.. sticker for sitting on toilet etc.. she'll soon associate its safe and feel comfortable on it.

Thank you! She’s started taking her nappy off a lot after having a wee and today she used the potty for the first time! I got a sticker book so I gave her a little sticker each time 🥺

Thanks everyone! She's been fully potty trained for a while now! Was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be! X
