Hello,

I'm just looking for some advice please. My little boy turned 3 at the end of March and he's been toilet trained since January. Picked it up no bother, with very few accidents and is dry at night too. We never actually used a potty, just went straight to the loo because that seemed to be what he wanted, all fine and no issues.

In the last couple of weeks, he's had 3 occasions where he's done a poo in his pants and he knows he's done it. This had only ever happened when he was at my in-laws, however today he did it at nursery.

Is this a common thing? And does any one have any advice on what to do? Thanks in advance.

How does he react if you suggest he needs to wear pull ups again?
Maybe ask him why he’s had these accidents…
I have heard children occasionally have lapses, might it be fear of asking for help in these places?

Have you asked him why ? For example was he at your IL’s house and comfortable with asking for help or was he out and about and didn’t know that supermarkets have loos too? In the case of nursery was he too shy to ask for help like wiping or was he too shy to get up during the story or whatever because it would attract attention? Not all 3 year olds can ask for help.
