DS has just turned 2 and we started potty training. He got it pretty quickly and has been great with his wees / little accidents.

However, since doing a number 2 on his potty he's got totally freaked out and now even refuses to wee as well! Any advice please? So frustrating as he was doing so so well.

We had to stop potty training and start over again one our LO was 2.5 due to this. Felt like a step backwards but in all honesty she probably wasn’t ready at 2!

Oh no! @FTMFML - how did they get on the second time around? I don't want to have to introduce nappies again as he really was doing so well :(

My son was like this too. Ok with wees but terrified of poos. You can't force it, you'll only traumatise him, so I would back right away from getting him to do poos in the potty and keep encouraging wees - lots of praise etc. Then try again in a few months with poos. He will get there eventually - there's no massive rush at 2. I remember my son used to go around without a nappy and then ask to have a nappy put on when he needed a poo! I think we then persuaded him to do the poo sitting on the potty while wearing a nappy. We also read books about potty training that celebrated pooing in the potty. And one day he did it. But it took ages. Hang in there!

@chickpea1982 thank you! He screamed for a nappy tonight and did go. Then I took it off again and he was back to doing a wee in the potty - so I think this is a good plan for now!
