Getting rid of rewards

We are on day 4 of potty training our 3.1 year old DD. This is the first progress we have ever made as any attempt previously she has been terrified of sitting on the potty and terrified of taking off a nappy and would not go nappy free at all without hysterically crying. So the fact that she is weeing on the potty now is a huge deal. The only thing that got her on there in the end was a chocolate button. We had only tried without rewards previously. She gets one if she does a wee on the potty. I know it's only day 4 but any advice on how long you rewarded for and how to stop the rewards?

Until she's very happy and doing it quite naturally, without prompting? Wink

Keep going a long while! I am phasing out now and we are about seven or eight weeks in I think.

Need to have this discussion with my husband! We're only on day three and he's removed chocolate because he says she's forcing out wees to get chocolate. I think of she's doing those wees on the potty then she should be rewarded 🙈
