Just after some advice, we started potty training our 2.5 year old over the Easter bank holiday. He was showing signs of being ready and since day 1 he pretty much trained himself, didn’t needed prompted at all to use the potty just took himself off whenever he needed to go for both wees and poos. We kept him at home naked waist down for the first few days and didn’t have any accidents. He’s great with poos, never had any accidents regardless of where we are or what he’s doing and always lets us know when he needs to go.
Wees are the issue, mostly he will say when he needs to go but hes holding them for hours, this morning he didn’t have one for 4 hours and that’s been quite common over the last few days. I feel like he’s waiting until the very last minute and this is causing him to leak slightly and then say he needs the potty (not always, but seems to be happening more over the past few days). He doesn’t like being asked if needs to go and can be quite stubborn like that. It wasn’t an issue before so not sure what’s going wrong or what to do. Tonight he said 3 times he needed a wee and each time he sat down he did ‘actually I don’t need one’ but then eventually dribbled a bit and then went for a propper one on the potty. He’s definitely ready and had been doing so well so definitely not going back to nappies but please can someone advise me as I feel like I don’t know what to do to help? He got bored of stickers after the first half day we started 😂 as he pretty much trained himself I don’t really know how I can get him to go more regularly and stop the wee leaks?
