Is my LG ready?

My LG is 28 months old, we’ve been potty training for a week and during the first few days she was having minimal accidents, fast forward a week and she’s getting one wee max on the potty and seems to hate it. Should I stop and try again in a few weeks? She just doesn’t have any interest at all anymore and isn’t fussed about doing it in her clothes. I’m just about ready to give up and we’ve only just started!

No she isn’t.

she’s only just 2. Wait until she can hold it.

much easier to wait and get it done in a few days.

Potty training is controversial as in there's two camps. Those that read the oh crap, potty training book who will tell you she is ready and the other camp who believe she is far from ready and will eventually train herself.

You decide, op. Choose a strategy and stick to it. Personally, I used oh crap and trained my daughter successfully at 24 months. I can see how the wrong phrase, response can send you on a downward spiral. Have you read anything or are you winging it? I think at that age, winging it is tricky.

This is normal. At first peeing on a potty is an exciting novelty, but they quickly realise it’s actually quite boring and takes them away from other fun stuff. I’d persevere.

I read up on techniques and we initially stayed in for 3 days and she seemed to really get it, and enjoy it. It’s like those days have passes and we’re just irritating with the reminders. Have just bought a book though, I just don’t want to offer mixed messages stopping and then starting again

With my LG (DD1), it was all about her determination. When she was ready, she was ready. We tried a few times when she was about 2.5; then one day she told me she wanted to wear grown-up pants. And I asked her what this meant and she could tell me 'I want to do my wees and poos in the potty'.
