Im looking for some advice on where to go with this now..
At 22 months (currently 23 months) my dd started asking to wee on the toilet and she would go. We werent in any rush to potty train but we’d do some nappy free time after naps to just let her explore the feeling of it all.
Then nursery started telling me shes showing all the signs and to go for it. So on their recommendation we went for it with the three day method. And surprisingly after these 3 days she got it. Only Two accidents in 2 weeks! (One in tesco and one at nursery)
Then at about a month in the novelty wore off and she started having accidents and now its like shes doing it on purpose. She also seems to resist me when i take her or ask her to go to the toilet. She very happily goes for daddy and granny if they’re here. She actually asked for them and wont let me take her. Im very patient and make a huge effort to be encouraging and supportive but its a but soul destroying. Last week we even had dolly going for a wee first and wiping/ flushing. Then it was dd turn. That did work for a couple days But by Thursday last week she was going through 7/8 changes a day that for my own sanity made the decision to put her in potty training pull ups. We’re on day 4 of this and although shes done a few wees on the toilet she’s definitely just going in the pull ups. She now tells us after shes done a wee or poo. Before she was saying she needed to go and running to the toilet herself.
Ive heard of potty training regressions and assume this is happening here but shes only 5 weeks in..
Also, since we started training she’s completely dropped her nap (although clearly so tired, she wont sleep. I’ve tried everything) and her dad has been working away during the weeks which he doesn’t usually do. ive been feeling more stressed as a result of that and also we just have alot on atm so maybe she picking up on this. The other thing to mention is that on week 3 at nursery she held her wee all day until 2pm and had a huge accident. Shes never done that at home. This is around when the accidents started happening actually.
Does anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation? I have absolutely no idea what im doing with potty training, shes my first. I do understand shes still so young but she did successfully potty train for 2 weeks so i know she can do it.
Has anyone used these potty training pull ups instead of pants and encouraged using the toilet at regular intervals? Or do we need to stop toilet all together and start again in a month or so?
