Just in need of some advice about the best strategy. We started potty training our 3 year old a couple of days ago and so far he’s been great with nothing on at all (self initiating etc…) however when we put pants he starts having more accidents, not every time but a lot more including poos.

I understand this is a process and it’s all very new to him but my question is do we go abit longer with nothing on or just continue trying with pants and try to teach him not to soil himself?

I’m leaning on trying to plow on with the pants as the lesson he seems to need to learn is not to soil them as opposed to actually learning to use a potty so I can’t see the point of carrying on for longer with him wearing nothing as that’s not going to help him learn not to soil.

Is this the right approach?

What have you done in the build up to potty training? How prepared are they?

Hi, we did alot of preparation and he has been absolutely perfect when he has nothing on, he uses the potty of his own free will when he needs to go, he's doing great. The problem comes when we put pants on him, then he starts to have accidents.
