Potty training advice

We started potty training our 2.5 month old girl on Friday. She has been in knickers every day (she quite likes them). She is doing ok with wee but only because it's coming from us putting her on the potty regularly. Otherwise when left to it she starts a wee in her knickers, then tells us and finishes it in the potty. Which I still see as a step in the right direction but Will this gradually improve once she gets used to it? Ie. Will she eventually go to the potty before it comes if we keep plodding on? Poo wise she likes doing it in her knickers and isn't keen to do it in the potty yet which I can understand. We had such a bad experience of potty training with our son and lots of issues so I'm feeling clueless with it all and just hoping she can take to it a lot quicker than he did!

I had similar with my son when he was 2 years 3 months. I decided the timing wasn't quite right, waited 3 more months and started again but went completely commando.

Not sure if it was the extra 3 months or the change in approach, but it clicked on day one. I loosely followed the Oh Crap method which recommends commando.

Whatever you decide to do, she will get there!

I don't mean commando! I mean he was completely naked for the first couple of days!! Sorry. The Oh Crap book recommends commando when you do start going out and wearing clothes, although we chose to introduce pants then.

Thank you @PurplePetalPip - we will do the no knickers thing for a few days with a top or dress. Although annoyingly we are out at something for two hours tomorrow morning so should Probably put leggings on her for that bit 😂

@parentingtwo do you mean 2.5 month old or 2.5 year old?

Assuming it's 2.5 year old:
Commando is the way to go. Rewards for sitting on the potty and extra rewards for wee or poop on the potty. If she wees in her knickers, just sit her on the potty and clean up from there so she's associating potty with toileting and rewards. No rewards when wee or poop happens in knickers, just moved straight to the potty to sit and be cleaned up.

Oops @DragonCatcher yes she is 2.5 years old 😂 thank you. Will definitely try some naked time / no knicker time and see if it helps.
