I have been trying to train DS for over two months now. Some very limited progress has been made but he still has wet accidents most days and has made no progress with poo.

He is 3 and 2 months. I’ve sought advice from nursery and HV who say to carry on but I’m starting to wonder if I’m doing more harm than good. I know it’s a while off but school is becoming a concern, as he just doesn’t seem to be bothered.

Can you not predict when he’s going to poo, like after eating? Then sit him on the potty and read some books.

No, his poos are totally sporadic, though you can almost guarantee he’ll poo just when we’re rushing to leave for somewhere.

It does feel like we’ve gone wrong somewhere but I don’t know how to put it right!

Keep going! It will click. I work in a nursery/pre school and at that age putting him back in nappies will just set him back. Take the pressure off, don’t tell him off for accidents just keep your language simple “wees go in the potty, not your pants” and get him changed. Have you tried going bottomless at home for a few days? Have you tried trousers but no underwear?
