3 year old ill alongside potty regression

My 3 year old DS has been successfully going to the potty for 3 months with only one accident in this time, he is speech delayed so will either take himself to the potty or will say “potty” for us to take him. However, over the last few days he has been having several accidents every day. Every time he has had an accident he has been sat on a chair and only says ‘potty’ when he can see that I am approaching and I’m going to find out he’s had an accident.
Today he has woken up with a bad cough and the doctor tested for a UTI which was negative but has said he has a bad throat (potential tonsillitis) and has given him antibiotics. I am now thinking the two could be related….has anyone had any experience with this?

DS was really good with potty treating but the only time he ever had any accident was when he had tonsillitis. So I'd say yes, it's probably related Flowers

DS was really good apart from when he had hand foot and mouth. He regressed. We gave him a break and picked up once he was stronger. He was about 2 and a couple of months at the time. Yes illness is related.
