Struggling with poo

Ds (3) is fine for wees but really doesn’t seem to be getting poos. He just soils his pants and then tells me he’s pooed. I say to him ‘where should poo go?’ and he replies the toilet but has never actually managed to get to the toilet. I’ve seen other threads where children are a bit scared to use the potty for poos and it could be that but he isn’t withholding poo, just soiling himself.

I am pleased about the wees but would welcome any advice about poo - harder in every sense!

Perseverance and tjme. Keep up the reward h ch arts, and we also reported to bribery - he got ice cream every time he did a (big) poo in the toilet. Every time. we were desperate. We’ve now moved on to half an ice pop, or some other smaller alternative treat and it’s ok if we say he’ll get it the next day if it’s bedtime or whatever..

we had a TERRIBLE time of it for months but he has come good - it is such a relief. he just goes himself.

He had a loooong history of withholding so I really was tearing my hair out that it would never click - but Bribery did the trick 😬
