Won’t say he needs a wee

Just wondering if anyone has any advice with this.

DS (3 in a couple of weeks) will wee if you tell him to sit on the potty, which is good. However, he shows no recognition of needing to go and will just wet himself if you don’t put him on the potty at very regular intervals. I’ve been putting him on every half hour or so but obviously that probably isn’t sustainable and to be honest I’ve no idea where to start with poo! Does anyone have any advice?

It doesn't sound like he's ready if I'm honest.

I'd keep him in nappies but put him on the potty a couple of times a day.

Maybe once whilst you run the bath? We did this and made a big fuss if they managed to produce anything, I mean huge fuss, but didn't comment if the potty was empty. When we did go for potty training DS got it straight away. Think he'd enjoyed the praise.

I was in your exact shoes with my DD's wees 6 months ago. She still doesn't tell me when she needs to wee but now comfortably waits 2-3h between trips to the loo and holds it fairly reliably in between. So make of that what you will!
