DD is 2.5 & for the last four months or so, has (when prompted & in the right mood) sit on a toilet or potty & do the business (pees & poos). I always helped her with undressing & mostly it was at random times like before the bath.

I thought I'd take it up a gear & try to train fully. She fully gets what the potty is for & can communicate well however she fumbles with her clothing & will always ask for help with clothes & probably for me to read a book (or several) while she goes. Not a quick process!

At home she has been dry for a few days however she was (1) naked from the waist down (2) i asked every 30mins if she needed a wee or poo so she was never that full (3) sometimes took the potty to her if she said she needed to wee.

Cue nursery & she has refused to go at all on potty there & has had several accidents... she was put back in nappies.

Am i giving too many prompts & she's actually not consistently aware enough of impending wee? Is she 'not ready' & dryness is only due to all the promoting? Back to nappies?

Just wait. When she is ready she will have more awareness. I tried many times with DS he just didn't care finally got it at 3 and even now at 3.5 he struggles with his clothes. But he is dry day and night.

Ds was lazy we just had to keep trying. Eventually at just gone 3 stars on the wall for each success worked. Silver stars for a wee gold stars for a poo. 5 Gold stars gets a chocolate.
