could really do with some advice.

potty trained my almost 2.5yr old about 2 weeks ago. Had the obv teething troubles but after about 3ish days she seemed to master it. All going great happy to use the travel potty when out and about. Very rare accidents. Usually only when she’s playing and doesn’t want to stop 😅

however the last 5-7 days have been a nightmare she had started to refuse to use the potty accident have massively increased and she will just not poo in the potty at all it’s either on the floor or in her knickers 😬😫 she will ask for the potty after pooping. She goes nursery 2 days a week and she’s the same there atm after having no issues preciously.

We do have a 5 week old so I’m wondering if that could be a factor but she didn’t seem to have an issue initially.

can anyone offer advice up the wall atm and knee deep in poo and pee 😂😬

It may well be because of the brand new sibling tbh, it's a big change for her to process and toileting is one of the classic areas for that to show up. It doesn't mean she's really distressed or not coping with it, just that it's using up a bit more of her emotional bandwidth right now. It will probably pass if you don't make a big deal of it; but given that you're dealing with a tiny baby as well and could do without the extra shit, I would try using chocolate buttons as a bribe!

I’ve been trying to potty train my 25mo for about 4 weeks. I have an 11wo. I definitely think the baby could have something to do with it as DS says things like “my turn nappy change” and “[DS] baby too”. I think he’s jealous trying to work out his place in the world.

@PurBal exactly what why LG is doing. She will soil in her knickers then ask for her bum yo be changed 😬. It’s so hard I do feel really sorry for her. Trying to fuss her as much as possible. Extra hard as she will also not entertain my husband at all atm which is extra stress for me 😬

@Greensleeves we have tried the chocolate button bribery only worked for about a day 😫 hubby wants to put bk into nappies but I don’t agree. Will just have to ride it out and pray 🙏🏼

We had exactly the same at exactly the same age. He mastered it after 3 days. Got to 2 weeks and we regressed completely for about 2 weeks. I so nearly gave up but he suddenly just got it again.

@bettynutkins really! That is so reassuring! I did guess it was something we would just have to ride out. Will just carry on with what we’ve also done and hope she clicks with it again soon 🙏🏼

Mine regressed after 6 months and crapped her panda regularly then for about 18 months. Sorry! My best advice (though clearly I did not crack this issue!) is not to get vexed because it will not help, but will make everyone involved feel lousy.

Mwnci123 · 07/09/2023 19:26

Pants not panda. Though she would probably have done it on a panda if it got in the way.

Hoping you see some improvement soon!
