Potty training well when naked…but not with clothes

So we’ve been potty training DS this weekend, who is almost 2.5. We’ve followed “Oh crap” and kept him bottomless for the last couple of days, and he’s done really well. We got to the point where he would suddenly get up and go and pee without any prompting.

Today, we introduced clothes. He has trousers on but no underwear, and he keeps having accidents. I don’t think he even realises he’s peed as when he was bottomless, he would tell us he's had an accident whereas with clothes on, he carries on playing without really noticing the wet clothes or the puddle or the floor.

Any tips? I assume we just carry on? It’s not so much the number of clothes changes we are having but more that he goes back to nursery tomorrow so needs to be wearing clothes rather than saying bottomless.

Hi I'm in the same position. Did you just carry on?

My nephew was exactly the same ... use the potty everytime without anything on, then the moment he had any item of clothing on, guess he just assumed he also had a nappy on?

What worked for them was stickers.
He got to choose a sticker when he used the potty, it gave him an incentive to be more mindful I think.
Now he's fully toilet trained.

We just carried on. I felt we had a major setback and felt really defeated, but after a couple of days he got the hang of peeing with clothes on. He’s really good at peeing now.

We have trousers but no underwear yet.

Poo is still an issue though - very much 50/50 in terms of whether he does it in his trousers or in the potty. I’m thinking it’s just a matter of time…

I'm glad he got the hang of it. Hopefully mine does as well 🙏
