LO is 2.5 and today was day 1! Went with no pants and stayed at home with potty in the living room (on a mat).

Within 10 mins he had done a poo on the floor 😂. Then nothing for 3 hours but then several small accidents in a short space of time around the floor (all one wee in different places). I suggested he sat on the potty each time, but he was very wary of it and got quite worked up at weeing on the floor. He said 'nappy' a couple of times as well but I said something like 'now we use the potty' and left it at that.

This afternoon I kept prompting him whenever he grabbed himself to sit on the potty. And eventually he started sitting for more than 5 seconds (admittedly whilst holding my phone at first). Then this afternoon we had 3 wees on the potty (some after a small accident first). Then a tiny bit in there just before bed. Lots of praise and a sticker after he goes in there.

Put him back in a nappy for bedtime.

Is this a good first day? I know the phone on there with a game is a bad idea, but it was the only way he would sit for more than about 5 seconds! He's a bit resistant to sitting on the potty when he does actually need to go, but I'm hoping this will improve as he gets more confident?

Yeah sounds good. My LO liked a book

Yep, sounds good for day one. Nothing wrong with a bit of bribery although would hit sit and look at a book / have you read to him if you don't want him in the phone. Save the phone for when he's tired and less biddable.
We used chocolate buttons as rewards too. One for trying and an extra one if they did something.

For day two, make sure you get him up and take the nappy off as soon as you hear him wake. You don't want him to get in the habit of lying in bed awake and weeing in his nappy because it's preferable to getting up and using the potty.

Thanks both reassuring to hear he's doing ok!

Have tried books. But he's not interested in them at the moment apart from his bedtime story. Will keep persevering though.

Good tip getting nappy of straight away thank you - will make sure I do that tomorrow!
