After 3 weeks...

... We are still prompting, no self-initiated toilet trips whatsoever. If we don't prompt, she has accidents. Sometimes she has accidents minutes after a toilet visit. Sometimes she goes to the toilet willingly, other times it's a battle.
Is this normal? Or should she be 'getting it' by now?
I've read many threads on here which may suggest she's not ready. But at 3.5 yo and starting school-based nursery in September, how much longer can we wait? We've had a few half-hearted attempts in the past but need to crack it this time.
We use stickers and smarties as incentives, she likes them but maybe not enough. Any other tips, advice, words of wisdom?

Are you making sure that these 3 weeks have been consistent with the same person/people at home?

If you can't do that then a reward system may work. Or a potty that looks like your toilet and has a flushing noise?

I bought a second potty for dc’s toys to go to the potty too. Role play is something 3-5 year olds love and it helps them learn.

I also read picture books about learning to use the potty. For a reward system I had a lucky dip of small toys, 1 toy for wee, 2 toys for poo.

I made it as lighthearted and fun as possible to reduce any stress in such a big change.

Yes, I forgot about Pirate Pete 'Potty' and Pip & Posy 'The Little Puddle'. Both were great books whilst potty training.

I've taken your suggestions on board and have ordered a picture book and a reward chart, both with a well-known character that DD loves. We have a potty that is essentially spare as she's too big for it, so I will give the role play thing a try too and start getting the toys to use the potty! Thank you again, I really hope it starts to click soon
