Where to start?!

I want to start potty training my 2.5 year old but I don't know where to start? He starts pre school after summer and id love to have him done by then (daytime).

We've had a potty in our lounge for a while to get him used to it, but he never really shows much interest. I try to tell him to sit on the potty when I can tell he's pooping, but he doesn't and then goes and sits on it after (fully clothed).

He's not really showing any of the signs they say to look for, but does this mean I won't work? Im worried he'll never show the signs!

But I just don't understand where to start? Do I just put him in pull ups or pants and tell him to go in the potty? Keep asking every half hour or so to sit on there and try? So confused!

I tried a little when my first was 18 months with a potty but he went on it once and didn't like it. So i got a step and a nice cushioned seat for the toilet and made a HUGE deal about what a big boy he was using the grown up toilet. And that day i put pants on him and did put a nappy on unless for naptime or night time.

Yes there are accidents but its 4 months in now and is doing so well!

Hope that helps!

We started with potty and a book when he got up and then the same thing before bed. We did this for a few months. Probably from 20 months.

We started potty training at Easter (two years three months ish) and, as he was used to the potty already, it was a fairly easy transition.

At first we left him bare bummed for a few days and asked him a lot if he needed to wee. Then introduced trousers but no pants. After about a week we put pants on him as well.

Good luck!
