Tips for poos please

We started potty training about 3 weeks ago, Ds is now completely dry and asking for the toilet for a wee even when we are out.
He will also tell me when he needs a poo but as soon as we get to the toilet he decides that he doesn't need it and wants to get off. He seems a bit panicked by it and will ask again a few minutes later but then want to get off again. This happens a few times and then often he ends up going in his pants and being very upset about it.

He has managed to go in the toilet/potty a few times.
Does anyone have any tips for helping him to get used to it? So far I have tried:
The poo goes to poo land app
Blowing bubbles while on the toilet
Bribery with chocolate buttons
Reading books/ giving him the kindle to watch TV while on the toilet.
Taking his trousers off completely as soon as he says it the first time (he doesn't like this)
The potty
The toilet

I don't want to get into the habit of making him sit there for a long time as he geta upset about it but I also don't want him withholding it and he is very upset by accidents.
Thanks for any ideas.

Similar thing with DD! Pee is ok but poo tends to start in pants before she lets us know she needs to sit on the toilet!

No tips from me! But watching!

I had similar with my eldest. She would hide or run away when she needed it but once she had done it on the toilet a couple of times it just clicked.

DS is almost the opposite; knows that he needs to go, will sit and has managed it a few times but just can't seem to make it click.

This is exactly the situation we are currrently in. We seem to have got over the panicky phase and wanting to get off the toilet when she needs a poo, we've now gone through the withholding poo phase, and are now into the 'doing it in my pants and then telling mummy' phase.

Sorry I don't have any advice but following for help too! x

We used to put a nappy into the potty as ours hated 'the noise' (really?) and that seemed to help - I thinks pooing into a nappy felt safe. Once the potty had been mastered we had the whole 'don't like the splash' phase in the toilet! Good luck.

That's a possibility. I will give it a go.
We seem to have taken a step backwards over the last couple of days.
The panic is really bad and I am struggling to get him to even sit on the toilet/potty when he knows it's coming.

It's awful seeing him so stressed and it makes me really stressed too.
I've resorted to offering to put a nappy on him tonight, which worked eventually but he was very upset about it.
