Can anyone recommend books/resources/strategies which might help my 2yr 9m old do his poos in the toilet? 4 weeks into potty training and wees are mostly ok so long as I take him to the loo regularly, but he is really resistant to doing a poo anywhere except pants.
When he feels a poo coming keeps saying "I don't want to go to the toilet" and refuses to sit on it, then poos in his pants/trousers. I'm sure he's witholding as he used to go once/twice a day and now it's about every 48 hrs but on the days he does go it's often lots of little accidents. He's really grumpy when he hasn't pood and is generally finding it upsetting. I don't think he's having overflow poo as the poo is still formed and generally not hard. He did have one day of rabbit droppings last week though.
We've tried
Poo goes to pooland app
Mrs wee & Mr poo book
Thomas the tank potty training book
Choc buttons
Stickers
Options of potty, upstairs loo with insert seat, downstairs loo with steps up and footrest (he prefers this)
Commando/bare bum at home (he has to wear pants at nursery)
I'm reluctant to go back to nappies as he's mostly cracked the wees. He's dry during naps and sometimes overnight since we started. Also when he's been upset I've offered him a nappy to poo in but he said no, so I'm not convinced this would help anyway.
