Daughter is 2.3yrs. We’ve had a potty around for months and also got a trainer seat recently. She’s been giving us signs she’s ready to train - declaring she is doing a wee/poo, asking to be changed. Absolutely loves wearing knickers.
For the first few days we started asking if she wants to wear knickers or nappies. She always picked knickers, so we left her in them for longer periods each day. Lots of accidents but a few successes. Generally reluctant to sit on potty but could be motivated by her dollies going first or the old classic stickers.
Over Easter period think things got a little messier with visitors including grandparents making a major fuss that we think put her off sitting on the potty in a toddler refusal way (you really want me to do this so I’m really not going to). During this time she had great bladder control - 2.5hrs no accidents but did a wee as soon as the nappy was on.
We decided that maybe we were mentioning the potty too much to her so have reigned back on that. Also in nursery with nappies today. Offering her it at changes but still no.
At bathtime, we had blank potty refusal but then tears in the bath that she needed to wee and couldn’t do it in her bath… when I got her out she then still wouldn’t sit on potty.
So she has the gist, but dislikes the potty… help wise mums!
