4 years and still not trained

Someone please help me before I have a mental breakdown 😔 my son turned 4 in January and started potty training 5 months ago. He is fine with wees but he just will not do the poos on the potty. I’m literally at breaking point. I don’t know what to do with him. 5 months of scraping poo out of undies and just can’t cope anymore. Nothing is making him want to do it. Bribes don’t work. I ended up shouting at him today and not I’m just the worst parent in the world. I hate that I can’t help him through this. Why does everyone else seem to get their kids through this within weeks. I feel like such a failure

If he's just plain refusing though, would he be willing to tell you he needs a poo so that you can put a nappy on just for the poo? If he can, you say he can have a nappy for the poo but he sits on the potty, with the nappy on to do it.

The idea is that after a couple of weeks of doing this, you gradually start to put the nappy on more loosely until eventually you are just laying the nappy on the potty.
