Number of accidents increasing

Started potty training 26 month old 2 weeks ago. He was doing really well, recognising when he needed to go and going in the potty. He was having maybe 1-2 accidents a day, but over the last couple of days this has increased and now he’s not making the effort to go to the potty, even if we prompt him. Is this just a temporary set-back? Should we just carry on regardless?

I'd stop and try again in a couple of months when he's had a break from it and it's hopefully warmer.

OP, how did this work out in the end? Currently having the same problem 😕

We had the same with dd. We stopped for a fortnight and then went back to it.
Turned out she didn't like the potty but would happily use the loo.

Hi, we got there in the end! He was having 2-4 accidents a day in the first couple of months, and it gradually reduced over time, and I’d say it took us around 5 months to be completely accident-free. We thought about stopping a few times but he was always making progress… it tended to be 2 steps forward, one step back, but we just pushed on as we felt we’d gone too far and made too much progress to stop. Potty training is HARD and there’s no right or wrong answer but I’d say if they are making overall progress, keep going… as long as you don’t mind the constant washing!!
