Potty training take two - any tips?

We’re about to embark on our second attempt at potty training. Tried for 3 days back in July but day 2 and day 3 were awful - withholding for hours on end until uncomfortable dances and the inevitable flood that followed.

I’m dreading starting again but all the signs of being ready are there, as they were before with better communication this time. I’ve read the gentle potty training book and this was what we followed last time.

I guess I just wondered if there’s anything I’m missing? Any tips for dealing with withdrawal as I think it may well happen again? Or do I stop and try another time at the first sign of withdrawal? Help!

I'd take them to the library and choose a couple of books on potty training, then take them to the shops to buy "big girl/boy pants" and then just try.

If the they begging to refuse. Let them have a nappy on when they need to go, but they have to sit on the potty (with the nappy on) to do it.

The idea is that over several weeks you loosen the nappy until in the end you're just laying it on the potty and the next step is to just go on the potty.
