Toilet training

Hi, I have looked through some topics but can't find anything that relates to what I'm wanting to ask!

My son is 3.5 years has been toilet trained since he was 2.5 has always done really well with it. Around 2/3 months ago he started pooing himself everyday sometimes more than once, even at nursery he is doing it. I have tried everything to encourage him to stop and go on the toilet. (He does all his wee's on the toilet.) I've used a sticker chart or bought new toys, he will do it for a couple of days then starts pooing himself again. I've asked him why he does it and he just says he likes doing it, I've asked him if it hurts or if his tummy is sore and he says no. Am I doing something wrong? Is it a phase that will pass? Or is it worth speaking to the GP?

Any advice or experience would be gratefully received.
