Hi all.

DD will be 2 in a few weeks. She's very verbal and can communicate pretty well. She's been announcing her wees and poos for a while now but recently nappy changes have been an absolute BATTLE. She hates being changed and I suspect she has even begun to try and hold her wee in so I don't have to change her. I think she is ready and to be honest, due to the drama surrounding every single nappy change, so am I! She's sat on her mini toilet seat a few times and gets really excited by it but never actually done a wee or a poo in the toilet.

I just don't know where to start. We live in a carpeted flat. I'm hoping to get out carpets changed in a couple of months so I guess I may as well give this a go and she can have all the inevitable accidents she wants :) I'm not sure the best method to go about this? Do I just make her sit on the seat every hour during the day for a few days? Do I still let her wear her pull ups to begin with? Please advise me!

I bought a fancy animal shaped egg timer and called it a peepee clock, said whenever it rang it meant to sit on the loo and see if they needed anything - it really stopped any battles as i didnt need to convince them to try! It was great as i could adjust it to the time that suited - if he had been to the loo i left it an hour before it rang again- if he sat on the loo and nothing happened id maybe do 20 mins and try again etc - id set it to ring before naps and trips out the house.

Start at a time where you dont need to leave the house for 3 or 4 days, let them run about bare bum and have towels etc down if needed - you can really crack it in a few days if they are ready
