Morning everyone!

I'm thinking about starting potty training for my DD. She's 20 months. She has been in pull ups for about 2 months as she has learnt to take nappies off. (When she woke up in the morning we had a couple of turd avalanches in her cot where she only slept in her nappy in the heat and took it off)
She doesn't take off pull ups! (Yet)

She has a potty, we have one downstairs and one upstairs just sat on the floor. At the minute she just puts her toys in it.
If I ask her if she's done a wee / poo she will say yes / no.

She has on 2 occasions sat on her pot and done a poo in her nappy but I'm sure it's just coincidental as I've not pushed the potty at all yet.

Any tips for giving it a go? If we try and she isn't ready we will leave it a few months and come back to it as she's still young. Is there any specific methods I need to follow?

Thank you in advance!

We made sure we had 4 days where one of us could stay completely at home with our boy. We had him naked from the waist down and watched him really closely. His first wee we had to direct him to the potty mid-wee but after that he got the hang of it. On day 3 I think we went out with a travel potty just around the block. Day 4 to the park. Day 5 he went back to nursery and they carried on. Just make sure you're not planning anything when they're awake that requires you to put a nappy on 'just in case' or they'll get confused.

That's helpful thank you!

We have no bank holiday plans so I might give it a go this weekend. I'm guessing it will be one quite obvious if she's not ready?

Whenever she goes to the toilet in her nappy she always squats unless she's in her car seat or highchair so I'll look out for a squat and put the potty under her.
