Hi
I think my little girl is ready for pants! She's 4 and a half but has additional needs and is developmentally behind in all areas.
We tried using the potty last year but it resulted in accidents everywhere. I kept running out of pants and when she did do a wee on the floor, I would find her splashing in it and putting her hands to her mouth.
She has been going to nursery for half a day and usually children have to be potty trained but they made an exception. Over the past few months she has been doing some wees on the toilet and being praised. I moved from nappies to pull ups but she still does wees and poos in them 90% of the time.
She starts full time in September so I've got the holidays to get her ready. Please throw as much information at me as possible. I've printed out a potty training chart for her.
Her brother was an absolute doddle and was dry night and day before 3. I just feel a little lost, especially when going out.
Thanks in advance ☺

First of don’t panic, you can all but try. I think you need to find a week that’s dry so you can tackle any accidents that happen. Does she want to be potty trained? Is she going to a mainstream school? Or does she have a echp? I would also skip the potty and just start taking her to the toilet every time you or anyone that can take her goes. Not much use I know sorry

Potty training in 3 days book is what I’ve been recommended by all of my friends with older children.

@Notagain76 I think she does, she gets really excited when she does go for a wee on the toilet. She goes to mainstream school but doesn't have a ECHP. I usually do offer the toilet but I put pants on her this afternoon and she said she didn't want the toilet "go in potty". We've also only got a toilet upstairs which makes it a little more difficult.

@AperolWhore thank you, I'll have a look

This is the place for me to seek help. My son is borderline autistic (specialists can't seem to get to an agreement) where he excels in some fields but simply refuses to cooperate in others. He is 4, and much like sunshineandrainbowss child isn't yet potty trained but needs to be and very soon. We've been trying every summer since he's turned 2 to no effect. He outright refuses to sit on the potty/toilet/adapter for toilet, hell he refuses to pee in a plant. He wears pants during the day but he has developed the capacity to hold it in for 4 hours or more (which I'm sure cannot be good for him). He will wet himself if I don't put him in a diaper but he will have a tantrum and an overwhelming sense of shame because he hates being dirty/wet (a sensory issue I believe is connected to his condition). Any advice will be helpful!
