My 2 and 2 month old has been potty training for a couple of weeks now, she's been doing great at home been leaving her naked from the waist down the past few days with having hot weather she doesn't ask to use the potty she just does it and then tells me after. Today I've tried her in pants and shorts she seems to hate wearing both, managed to bribe her with the pants though. She's currently had 2 accidents with the pants on and 2 successful pees in the potty, is it cause the pants feel abit like a nappy to her? Abit unsure on what to do when we leave the house tomorrow? Do I put her in a pull up for about and about for now until she gets the hang of it more wearing pants? Or do I just got for it and take plenty of clothes. Really unsure on what to do as she has been doing so well only one accident on Sunday none Monday and Tuesday. I know she's still only young too so not pushing her with anything just going at her pace.

Hi,

I can’t offer much advice, but am in the same position as you. My son 2.3 has been using potty inconsistently for a couple of months. At first he was very resistant but then he used it happily with nappy off at home in the morning before we went to playgroup etc but always had a nappy on outside.

I’ve started no nappies except for nap and bed last few days and he manages 2/3 of the time. I’m interested to hear about the pants situation as I’ve noticed he has more accidents when wearing pants rather than just shorts so think you might be on to something with it feeling like a nappy.

I have just been going for it when we leave the house and taking spare clothes, the only time we had an accident outside the home (only short trips and have been constantly asking if he needs the toilet) is when he was wearing the pants…

Not bad. He is fine at home now, can use the potty independently.

It’s still a bit problematic when we are out and about. He has had a couple of accidents in the park when playing football as he is distracted and doesn’t tell me before it is happening.

I ask him to use the potty before we go out and just delay going out until
he has. He was scared to use the toilet in a cafe last week so I have now got a mini toilet seat I just put under the buggy and take with me everywhere.

What about you?

We're the same in the house she's great, we've found she's better without pants so giving the pants a miss at the minute and just putting her in trousers. Yesterday was the first day we went outside the house in pants but obviously she had accidents cause of the pants so will see what she's like now without them when out.
