Potty training and limited language

My son is over 2 and I'm thinking about potty training. When I trained my DDs around this age they were verbal and able to say they needed a wee (or had already had a wee!).
My son has very limited language so I'm not sure about training him. I know his cues for having a poo but there isn't really any cues for having a wee.
Would I be mad to try training him anyway??

Sounds hard work! How good is his understanding? Would he be receptive to being taken to the potty at regular times? Has he shown any interest in the potty?
I don't believe potty training has to be a one chance shot. You can give it a go for a weekend and if it's a disaster put a nappy back on and try again in a few months.
