Playing in wee

My DS is 3 next month and has been nearly potty trained for about 4 months (he struggles with pulling his pants down but overall has been amazing this whole time). However, the past few days, maybe a week, he's been weeing on the floor (with or without clothes) and then intentionally rolling his cars in the puddle. Like, today he laughed as he weed then immediately said "car get in". And then tonight I went into the living room to find him literally rolling around in it. He likes to lay down to watch the wheels on his cars and I think that's the only reason he was in it, but he wasn't bothered. He'll often say he needs the potty but by that point he's already done it and laughs and runs away when I tell him calmly to go to the potty. I feel like he's gone loads today though and he hasn't had that much to drink, so I think he must only been doing little accidents, but then he won't do anything when I send him to the potty after. He'll happily sit on the potty for a while if I physically take him, he takes himself in the morning and he can hold it in while we're out (although that too has started slipping lately). Also, 6/7 nights are completely dry.
I just don't know why he's doing this and I'm so sick of potty training now. We've been 'no nappies' since February but let's just say it's been a long journey. Why is he doing this now??? Is it just a phase he'll come out of by the end of the week or do I need to do something?

How are you getting on now @Erobin19?

I've been taking him every 2 hours since then and hes going but until yesterday he still hadn't taken himself or even told us he needs to go. He took himself a couple of times yesterday but then he also had an accident before telling us as well, so he's slowly improving. I still don't know why this is happening but hopefully it's over soon. 😔

It's not one I've heard of before, but I'm no expert.

It might be worth asking your HV to have a look at him though.
