My nearly 3 year old was potty trained a couple of months ago, she took to it extremely well & would always happily go off to the toilet when needed. Obviously this was too good to be true as all of a sudden the last few days she will not go to the toilet. I can see she is desperate but she screams the house down & refuses to go until she has an accident - this can be hours though…she is obviously uncomfortable & needs to go… anyone been through this? Any advice? I really don’t know what to do - not sure if this is a common phase or if she needs to see a doctor.
TIA

I'd want to rule out a UTI to be honest. I used to get them at a young age and would be in tears on the toilet.

  1. rule out a uti.
  2. sit here on the toilet/potty with a book and just sit there chatting to her. See what happens. Might help to gently run the tap too.
  3. bribery. A smartie/something else for a wee.
  4. the website Eric has lots of good advice

Good luck.

Hi

really late on this thread but my daughter is now going through this. she is 3 has been potty trained for 3/4 months and now suddenly refusing to wee anywhere but at home. Not even at my moms where she was potty trained. I'm at a loss and feel like i'm not getting anywhere.

Did this sort itself out?

Thanks
Zoe
