3 year old weeing/accidents multiple times an hour

Started attempting to potty train my almost 3 yr old yesterday. He's done well with doing wees in the potty/toilet but we've missed lots of them because he seems to be just weeing constantly. Does a wee (fairly big one, sits there for 1 min or so) on the potty then wees all over the floor 10 minutes later. Then again another 15 minutes later. This morning he wee'd 6 times in an hour. Then he made it 45 minutes, wee'd on the toilet then again in his pants 10 mins later.

Is this a normal part of potty training or something else?

Thank you! (Potty training novice here)

Normal, I'd say. The focus is all on weeing! So he's weeing.

Either he's not quite ready (can he oull his own pants and trousers down?) Or it'll settle down.

Normal, I'm afraid. Plus children vary WILDLY. I've potty trained three now. Number two mastered it in about half an hour age 2, was dry through the night immediately, and had about two accidents ever. Number 3, however, is still not reliable after four months. That sounds very much like him for about the first two weeks (argh!). Good luck!

P.s. if you have any more children, my top tip is to do it in the summer (sorry).

Ahhh good to know, thanks. Yes he can pull his pants and trousers down fine, when he's having an accident he tells me 'mummy I'm weeing'. We've not managed a poo in the potty yet because he hasn't been yet today or yesterday but normally he will tell me he needs to do a poo and take himself off alone to do it so we'll see what happens there.

How often should I put him on the potty do you think? Every 30 mins?

Hi, I know this is an old(ish) thread but I was just wondering how things were going now?

I was literally about to write your post and then saw that you had/ have the same issues - weeing allll the time etc?

Did you carry on? Or did you give up and try again?

Thank you

Is your lo dry for at least an hour ideally 2, test with tissue in nappy....if they don't have that bladder control they are not ready.

Please get your kid checked for diabetes! It's a simple urine test. Frequent peeing is a symptom. We had some bad days when potty training but I think this sounds extreme, especially at that age.
