Using potty but weeing in pants

Potty training time 6 or maybe 7 - getting a bit fed up with it now!

When ds (3.5) is naked from waist down is reliable to wee on a potty or a toilet we then put underpants on and it’s a different story. He just wets himself in them and doesn’t even notice they’re wet Sad.
I’ve tried putting loose trousers on with no underpants, underpants by themselves or with trousers as well. We’ve also tried pull ups and underpants under or over them and it’s always the same story!
He does have a speech delay but understands he should be weeing on the toilet.

He has also started leaking through his pull ups and trousers as he seems to be getting more control of his bladder and having larger wees.
Any advice?

This is the problem with trai ing bare they always go backwards in my experience. Id go back to reminding him every half hour....but keep him fully dressed no pull ups. You can get traditional training pants that limit mess.
Get him to undress and wipe himself down so going in the toilet is quicker than having wet clothes.

Ask if he needs to go to the potty often. Have rewards for doing a wee or poo in the potty. I bought lots of fun little toys that I knew dd would like, wrapped them up and put them in a bag for a lucky dip. She got one for a wee and two for a poo. I also bought a picture book about potty training. She loved getting me to read it over and over again. I also bought a fun potty that was paw patrol, had a flush leaver that made a barking noise when she pushed on it. I bought another cheaper potty for her toys to toilet train too. I tried to make toilet training as fun as possible. And it seemed to work for my dd. She occasionally had accidents but did really well.

Good luck @Kevinthesnipe Smile

I have 2.5 year olds twins, one of my girls has totally nailed the potty, wee’s and poo’s this weekend. Couldn’t be happier, until I put pants on her, she shows me how to take her pants off and sit on the potty, then pulls them back up, but she will not go on the potty when she has clothes on and simply wee’s herself despite me asking her regularly if she needs to sit on the potty 🤦‍♀️

Would you change tack to putting pants on her all the time and almost start again?

This is the problem I found when people train bare transitioning always goes backwards. Id put clothes on...traditional training pants contain mess. And sit her down regularly
