Starting potty training what to do

DD is 3.

We haven't started any firm potty training but she has done a wee and poo in potty - only when I know the signs for poop...so it's hit and miss.

I'm thinking of starting it this week.

Do I just leave her with underwear - no underwear. She wears nappy pants at the moment.

I've tried to encourage having a wee as soon as she wakes...it's very hit and miss.

I feel like I haven't 100% committed to it and feel slightly anxious I've confused her with nappy pants..

We had a play date last week and the friend was using the toilet fine. They are just a month older and have an older sibling so wanted to be like them...

Anyway feel like I'm the last to do this and it's making me anxious.

Help!
Tips for nailing this...

We did it over the weekend with a 3 year old DD

Said to her no more nappies - took her to choose her own pants - then we didn't leave the house for 48 hours - let her have fruit shoots etc as know they tend to go through her within 20 mins - every 5-10 mins would ask if she needed a wee and took her upstairs and sat her on the loo (I personally don't like potty's). Made it into a sort of game. By Sunday evening she was fairly reliably toilet trained during the day. (Waited 6 months to do nights)

Should say doing it in 2 days required 110% commitment - doing it like that you can't just stop and start - started in the morning and kept at it until bedtime every 10-20 mins - literally didn't leave the house so had to have plenty to do at home. I was running up and down the stairs with her every 10-20 mins all day for 2 days. Was knackering but it did the job.

I would recommend reading oh crap it’s time to potty train worked great for us and a fair few people who I’ve recommended it to! Don’t worry about what other people have or are doing as all kids are different and that way lies madness! You’ll get there but I do recommend doing a bit of research choosing a method and sticking to it as kids can get very mixed messages if you try a bit here and a bit there so it can then take longer, doesn’t mean it won’t happen but more stress for you and them in the mean time!! Good luck with whoever you do it!!

Following. DS is 3 and I'm at a total loss.

Thank you so much for all your advice.

I have started today.

I bought a toilet seat that has a little step. DD really enjoyed stepping and sitting on toilet and actually did a wee!

Also have our big girl underpants as we call them!
Pants instead of nappy pants.

For nighttime I've gone with pulls ups..pink girly ones.

Has kept dry so far and seems to enjoy going to step and sit on new toilet.

Told DH not to talk about nappies or potty anymore...it's all big girl underwear and using big girl toilet...

It's early days!!
