Hi,

I started potty training my daughter 7 days ago (she is 2 years 7 months) but I am now at my wits end and do not know what to do!

She does not tell me if she needs a wee nor will she just go on her own accord. When I ask her if she needs a wee she says no, but it’s clear that she does as she is putting her legs together.

It appears to me that she is holding her wee, I have been successful in getting her to wee in the potty but I have to sit with her/read a book to her which can last up to 1.5hrs!!

My question is, do I carry on with the potty training or is she just not ready yet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd stop and try again in a month or so. If she still doesn't seem to 'get it' after a couple of days, stop and try again in another month and repeat.

I tied myself in knots trying to get my eldest potty trained. Suddenly it clicked and he was out of nappies in a week and dry at night in two weeks (maybe earlier but I didn't want to risk it!)

I did the above with my second and it removed all the stress. When she clicked it was easy!

If she's not stressed maybe take her to the toilet every hour until she starts asking?

She's just not ready, keep taking to her about it encourage she uses the toilet or potty before bath time and come back to in in a few months.,

Agree... She isn't ready.... Try again in a while
