Potty training resources

My son is 17 months so we're miles off potty training, but would love a heads up of resources/where to look nearer the time. Thanks!

We are just going through this with DD at the moment. I read Oh Crap, which everyone raves about, but didn't quite get on board with all of it. I did find some of it useful though.

I also read The Gentle Potty Training Book, which I found really good and was more our style I think.

We used the oh crap book successfully with my 23 month old.
Things we've used:
IKEA potty (x2 if you want one up and down)
IKEA toilet seat.
Potty training kids books read to him before starting for a few weeks.
Puppy pads for the car seat and pram seat initially.
Kitchen roll for accidents in the first few days!

Also used the Oh Crap book when my son was 22 months and it worked brilliantly. Helped that it was summer so he could be naked from the waist down for the whole week. My top tip is having a potty in different rooms so you can get them on one in seconds when they start weeing and so you can put them on one every 20 minutes. I even attached one with a piece of string to my buggy so we could go out and about (we were on summer holiday by the seaside so it all felt more relaxed!).
Bear in mind that all kids were toilet trained by the age of 2 before the disposable nappy industry came along and told us all that most kids "aren't ready" until much later.
