What's your nurseries potty training policy?

Going to ring and speak to mine tomorrow but interested in what policies UK nurseries tend to have including;

• age they'll accept children potty training
• wether they have a policy for pants/commando
• wether they have a 'two weeks dry in pull ups' policy or similar

Or anything else that might crop up!

I don't even know if ours had a policy - we just said we were going to start potty training at home, started in a week when he was off nursery and then told them what we were doing/what he needed (e.g. when he still needed reminding to go) when he went back and they went with it. All decisions about what he wore and when to start were entirely ours, though he did get it quite quickly so perhaps they'd have told us if they thought it wasn't clicking at all.

I have no idea what our nursery policy is but when DD was about 2 and a half we had a chat with them (initiated by them although we'd been talking about it at home). We agreed a start day (the following Monday) and they said send her in in knickers with many changes of clothes and that was it - we just went for it together at home and nursery. They said they were starting 4 children the same day so they all encouraged each other. She had 5 accidents on day 1, 3 on day 2 and then just the odd one occasionally since. She does nap/sleep in a pull up at both nursery and home.

Just have a chat with them. Hopefully they will be supportive.

Nurseries should conduct training however you want them to. I used to work in a nursery and I would work with the parent on how they wanted it to be done.

No idea what the policy is. I just told them we were potty training and chatted about how we were doing it at home and how they could help at nursery.
