Hi there

Really struggling with my son who will be 4 next month. He’s fine with going for wee even stands to do it abs has happily taken himself when needed.. however for poos he won’t sit on the toilet or potty even with a pull-up on… I’m really worried and stressed with the situation…

He won’t say when he needs to go we’ve been giving him laxido to help regulate so now now he usually goes on the evening/ late afternoon but doesn’t sit on the toilet or potty… he’s so eager to get up

I’ve tried bubbles… books even phone but nothings working

I really feel like I don’t know what else to do he won’t say when he needs to go or sit Sad

Some words of advice plssss xx

DS was like this until nearly 4 -no clue why but he just ran off and stood to do a poo and refused the toilet or potty.
We used to have to watch him like a hawk and when he started to do ‘the face’ we’d say ‘quick, quick to the toilet’. He had a thing for cars so we used to buy little 99p matchbox cars and every time he went on the toilet he got a car and a big clap & cheer so it was ‘quick, quick to the toilet, let’s see if you do a poo in the toilet for a new car’. I’m sure family must have thought we were ridiculous.
He got there in the end.

He also had lactulose and movicol (as needed) on prescription for ages

When my DC was struggling with this it helped if she was naked from the waist down and the potty was right there where she was playing. So when I could tell she needed to go I’d take her trousers etc off.

Hi thanks for the replies!! Yes we’ve tried treats etc but still doesn’t work he gets annoyed and resists and when we think he’s doing it and try out him same thing he then doesn’t go! Despite sitting on the toilet for 30mins sometimes 😫😫

No don’t think it’s anything sensory but then again not 100% sure.. we’ve not had anything flagged to us by the GP/nursery etc but perhaps I will ask specifically…x
